Materials Design Map (materialsdesignmap.com) is a free, open platform mapping bio-based and biodegradable materials. We collect as little personal data as possible. This policy explains what data is processed, why, and what your rights are under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

2. What data we process

Data you send us: if you use the contact or material submission form, or write to us by email, we receive your name, email address, company or brand name and the content of your message.

Newsletter: if you subscribe, we process your email address to send you updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

Browsing data: like every website, our site automatically records technical data such as IP address, browser type, device and pages visited. These are collected by our hosting provider, Wix, to make the site work and keep it secure.

We do not ask for sensitive data and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

3. Why we process it and on what legal basis (GDPR art. 6)

Replying to your messages and evaluating material submissions: pre-contractual steps and legitimate interest (b, f). Publishing brand and material information on the Map: consent of the brand (a). Sending the newsletter: consent (a). Running the site securely: legitimate interest (f). Legal and tax obligations: legal obligation (c).

Information about materials and brands published on the Map is company information provided by the brands themselves for publication.

4. Who processes the data

Data is processed by Materials Design Map and by Wix.com Ltd., which hosts the site and acts as data processor. Wix may transfer data outside the EU (e.g. to the United States) under the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The site links to Instagram and LinkedIn. When you click those links, the privacy policies of those platforms apply.

5. How long we keep it

Messages and submissions: up to 24 months after the last contact, or as long as the material is published on the Map. Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Technical data: for the periods set by Wix.

6. Your rights

You can ask at any time to access, correct, delete or limit the use of your data, to object to its processing, or to receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time. Write to teo.sandigliano@gmail.com: we reply within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it).

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date of the last update.
