Keystone 2025, which took place at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam on 18 and 19 March, is the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s annual networking event that aims to exchange ideas and accelerate the transition to a circular economy.

Due to the urgency to implement circular solutions across industries, events like Keystone 2025 are instrumental in fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and driving systemic change, thanks to the participation of different key players able to shape the future of circular systems – businesses, policymakers, financial institutions, and academics.

As part of the event, Studio Nima – their practice consists of accelerating the growth and emergence of social innovations and circular economy solutions that sustainably address the world’s most pressing issues – curated the Materials Lab. The hands-on exhibition explored biomaterial innovations to provide an inspiring platform for cross-sector collaborations, highlighting pioneering solutions derived from nature.

Among the exhibitors were Kuori and Revoltech, also featured on the Materials Design Map, Sway’s bio-based plastic alternative made from seaweed, Modern Synthesis’ textiles made from bacteria-produced nanocellulose, and Ananas Anam’s textile made from pineapple leaf fiber. These are just a few of the innovations Studio Nima showcased in the Materials Lab.
